How to Access Bulk Edit
-
Open the App
- Navigate to the app containing the records you want to update (e.g., the Contacts App).
-
Switch to List View
- Use the List View to display your records in a table format.
-
Select the Records
- Check the box next to each record to select them individually.
- To select the first 50 records, click the top checkbox.
- A selection banner will show how many records are selected.
- To select all records, click “Select all X records.”
Edit the Fields
In the Edit window you will be seeing a simple yet intuitive interface that has 5 main areas to focus on.
Fast Update Mode
Enable Fast Update Mode to speed up the bulk editing process. When this option is checked, the system will skip:
- Automations
- Calculations
- Text indexing
- Audit logging
This mode is ideal when you need to apply large updates quickly and don’t require these processes to run.
This option is available for Admins only.
Note: Use only when data integrity is not impacted.
Field
Use the Field dropdown to choose the specific field you want to update. The list of available fields depends on the app you're currently working in.
The options that appear next will vary based on the Field Type you select. For details on how each type behaves, refer to the Field Types section.
Update Type
The dropdown options available in this section depend on the Field Type selected earlier. Here are the possible actions:
- Replace: Overwrites existing values with the new input.
- Add: Inserts new values alongside existing ones.
- Remove: Deletes only the specified values from the field.
- Clear: Removes all current values, leaving the field empty.
Fast Update Mode and Update Types
Users who are not Admins will only have access to the Replace update type when performing a bulk edit.
To unlock additional update types—such as Add, Clear, and Remove—the user must:
- Have Admin permissions, and
- Enable Fast Update Mode.
This ensures advanced bulk editing actions are restricted to authorized users.
Value
In this section, you’ll define the new value to be added or used to replace existing data. The available options in the dropdown will vary based on the Field Type you're editing.
Note: If you select Clear as the Update Type, the Value field will be disabled, since this option is only used to remove data from the field.

Field Types
When performing a bulk edit, it’s important to understand the type of fields you're modifying, as the available actions depend on the field type.
There are two main categories:
Multi Value-Type Fields
Includes: Multi Reference, Multi Choice, and similar.
Available actions:
- Add: Add new values to existing ones.
- Clear: Remove all existing values leaving a blank space.
- Replace: Overwrite existing values with new ones.
- Remove: Delete specific values from the field.
Single Value-Type Fields
Includes: Reference, Choice, and other single-value fields.
Available actions:
- Replace: Overwrite the existing value.
- Clear: Remove the current value leaving a blank space.
Before applying bulk edits, it’s important to confirm the type of field you’re updating.
To check a field’s type:
-
Go to Settings > Apps > [Selected App] > Form Fields tab.
-
You’ll see a list of all fields available in the app—these are the same fields available for editing.
-
In the Type column, you can identify whether a field is single or multi-value.
For example, in the Contacts App, the field Subscribers is listed as a Reference Multi Select, meaning it accepts multiple values.
Save the Changes
- Click the “Save” button once you're done.
- A confirmation message will appear upon success.
- The List View will automatically refresh with your updates.
- Save Your Changes
Note: The update process may take a few seconds depending on the number of records and the amount of data edited.
Best Practices for Bulk Editing
- Only update fields that should have the same value across all selected records.
- Be cautious: bulk edits cannot be undone.
- Use this feature for quick updates like status changes, tag assignments, or consistent field corrections.
Known Limitations
Keep in mind the following current restrictions:
- Image and File field types are not yet supported for bulk editing. These will be available in future updates.
- You cannot create new ad-hoc choices directly from the Value dropdown. To add a new choice, it must first be created within the app.
