Duration fields help measure the time elapsed for an activity or action. This field uses a unique format where time can be recorded using expressions such as:

  • 1w (1 week)
  • 2d (2 days)
  • 5h (5 hours)
  • 2m (2 minutes)
  • 10s (10 seconds)

This feature is ideal for tracking the length of actions, events, or cycles. For example, if you need to record the duration of a phone call, you can enter 35m to indicate a 35-minute call.

Navigating to Form Fields

Go to Settings > Apps, select the app you'd like to add the field to and select the 'Form Fields' tab.

Configuring a Duration Field

To set up a Duration field in your app, follow these steps:

  • Add a New Field: Click the Add Field button to open the Field Type selection window.

  • Select Choice Type: From the list of available field types, choose the Duration option.

  • Configure the Field: After selecting the Duration, proceed with the configuration settings as needed.

Give your field a name and add a field hint if desired. You can then select the section in which the field will be created or keep the default option.

Additionally, you can include help text to offer more detailed instructions about the expected input. On the form, users will see an 'i' icon next to the field; hovering over this icon will display the help text.​

Incorporating help text enhances user experience by providing context and reducing errors during form completion.

The field type must be set to 'Duration'.

If desired, you can set a default value for all new records. Team members will have the option to override the default value if needed. 

The format for this field can be specified between seconds, minutes, hours, and weeks.

Duration fields can also be calculated. Just enable the 'Calculated' checkbox and add your custom code in the space available for it. 

Enable the 'Required' checkbox if the information for this field is mandatory. It means that if you enable this option, every time a team member creates a new record, they will need to input a duration on this field in order to save it. 

If you enable the 'Lock After Create' as its name implies, the field will be locked once the new record is saved and the value of the field will not be editable afterward. 

Once you are done setting your field, click the save button. 

Note: All new fields are added at the bottom of the form.
