This field provides a dropdown menu listing all records from a selected App. To enable this functionality, you must first create a Record Reference field with the Reference Object set to "Apps." This step is essential to determine which records will be displayed in the dropdown.
A common example can be found in the Tasks App. Since tasks can be associated with records from various Apps, you first select the App and then the specific record to link the task to.
Another example is a Resource App designed for tracking research results. By using a Record Reference field, you can connect research findings to relevant records, regardless of the App they belong to.
Navigating to Form Fields
Go to Settings > Apps, select the app you'd like to add the field to and select the 'Form Fields' tab.
Configuring a Record Reference Field
To set up a Record Reference field in your app, follow these steps:
- Add a New Field: Click the Add Field button to open the Field Type selection window.
- Select Choice Type: From the list of available field types, choose the Record Reference option.
- Configure the Field: After selecting the Record Reference field, proceed with the configuration settings as needed.

Name Your Field – Assign a descriptive name to the field. You can also add a hint to provide additional guidance for users.

Select a Section – Choose the section where the field will be created, or keep the default selection.

Link to a Reference Field – Select the Reference field you previously created for the 'Apps' Object in the App Reference field. This step ensures that the system displays a list of records from the selected App.

Enable Field Requirements (Optional)
- Required – If this option is enabled, users must select a record before saving a new entry.
- Lock After Create – When enabled, the field becomes uneditable once the record is saved.
