The Board View is commonly used because of two features:
1. The ability to drag and drop the cards to the different statuses, stages, etc.
2. The 'group by' configuration enables you to select up to 2 fields for this purpose, depending on what you are working on. This view also includes a counter that can provide you with the total records of a single column or its sum, which is especially useful in the sales process.
User Permissions: No special permissions are required to use the Board View.
Board View
Customizing the Board view will allow you to see the information about your apps just how you need it. This view is excellent for obtaining a high level of detail in the records since they are shown as cards. Each card is displayed in its corresponding column according to the field selected in 'group by'.
Note: You will need to select a field to group by in the Lanes tab in the Filter, Sort & More dropdown to create a Board view.
Board Configuration
There are different ways in which you can customize your Board View.
Filter, Sort, Lanes & More
Here you can apply filters, define your sorting rules, manage your columns, group your information and add calculations. To learn more about these options, please visit the following article:
Note: When setting up a 'Sort By' for a Board View where you wish to use future dates, you must also set a filter for the date field to bind these dates. This will ensure that the future dates are properly grouped within the view.
Drag Between Lanes
The Board View is very similar to a Kanban board. It's great for teams that have projects that follow a specific process. You can easily drag records from one lane to the next and the record will automatically be updated.
Save
Once you have customized your Board View, we recommend you save it. This will help you keep your current configuration and access it with a single click instead of having to recreate it every time. To learn more about Save Views, please visit the following tutorial:
Note: If you are not the team administrator, any changes you make to the view will only be visible under your profile. They will not impact your team members. To share your current configuration, save it as a View and share it with your team.
If you are the team's administrator, you can make changes to the configuration of the board view and save them for your entire organization.
All your existing Saved Views can be used for reporting purposes. With them, you can create powerful dashboards. To learn more about Dashboards, please visit the following article:
