Notifications are in-app reminders of an event like an Email received, or a Task has been assigned to you. In FreeAgent, you can decide when and where you would like to receive them.
User Permissions: No special permissions are required to enable notifications.
Prerequisites: To receive notifications for newly received emails, pair your email with FreeAgent CRM. To learn how to, please visit the following tutorial:
Pair Email Address
To receive notifications for emails opened or Clicked, Email tracking needs to be enabled. For more information about how to enable it, please visit the following tutorial:

In this tutorial, we will cover:
- Navigate to Notifications
- Where Can I See My New Notifications?
- Different Notifications Available
- @mentions
- Jobs
Navigate to Notifications
Open the Preferences menu by clicking on your username in the top right corner of the screen. This will open your profile menu. Click on 'Preferences'. There, all you have to do is mark the checkbox of the notifications you want to receive (@mentions are automatically turned on and therefore will not show in your list).
Where Can I See My New Notifications?
You have the choice of not only when you want to be notified but where as well.
Within FreeAgent
When you get a notification, you will notice a red circle and receive a friendly sound alert (if you have your volume on).
Once you click on the Bell icon you'll be greeted with a list of your notifications. From this view you can dismiss a notification or add a follow up task. To do so, hover over a notification and an action bar will appear with a Dismiss button and a Task button.
You can also choose where you would like to be notified outside of FreeAgent.
1. Chrome Desktop
To enable these alerts, open Chrome settings by clicking the three dots in the upper right corner of your window. From this menu navigate to Settings > Security and Privacy > Site Settings > Notifications > Add. You can also click on the lock icon immediately to the left of the URL to access Site Settings.
Now type in freeagent.network. There is no 'Save' button, but you will now see FreeAgent in your list of allowed sites for notifications.
If you are on Mac OS make sure to enable notifications on your device as well. Navigate to System Preferences > Notifications > Allow Notifications from Google Chrome.
If this is your first time logging into FreeAgent or you are signing in from a new device, you will be asked if you wish to receive Chrome notifications. Simply click 'Allow' to enable Notification alerts.
2. Push Notifications
Turn this on if you'd like to receive notifications on your mobile device via the FreeAgent app.
If you'd like to learn more about notifications in our mobile app please see the following article.
Note: Administrators can now build custom notification types for their organization! Refer to the following article to get started, Notification Builder
3. SMS
We do so much of our work on our phones. It makes sense to receive important work notifications via our mobile devices.
For this to work you need to make sure you've entered a phone number as part of your account settings. Go to Settings > Preferences and click on the 'General' tab.
Note: SMS notifications are auto-truncated to 280 characters.
4. Email
If this is enabled you will receive notifications via the email address you're using as part of your login for your FreeAgent account.
This is the email address on the 'General' tab of User Preferences. Email notifications work by sending to the email listed there instead of the paired email. This way your notifications will work even if the user does not have an email paired.

Next time one of your contacts sends you an email, or if a member of your team assigns you a contact, account, opportunity, or task, a small badge will appear right next to the bell icon. The number on it indicates the total of notifications you have received. To see your notifications just click on the icon.
There would be different actions to perform according to the type of notification. For the new email received you will be able to see the email detail and reply. If a new record is assigned to you, you will be able to see the details and go to the record's page right from the notification.
Once you are done reviewing your notifications you can click on the 'Clear' button to remove them from the list. This way you will only see the most recent notifications there.
You can also build your own custom notifications in FreeAgent. See the following article to learn more:
@Mentions
The best way to keep everyone in the loop whether it is about a conversation going on with one of your contacts or updates to a deal is to use @Mentions. @Mentions allows you to select a specific team member and leave him or her a note in any of your existing tabs where the activity timeline is available.
Adding mentions to anyone on your team is very simple. First, you need to click on the desired tab and then on the 'Add a note' section of the activity timeline and the '@' sign. Once you do, a list of all your active users. Click on the name of the user you want to mention and add your message. You can also expand the note in case you would like to add some styles and even some emojis.
Once you hit 'Enter', or click the 'Save' button, the note will be added to the activity timeline including the @mention.
As soon as the message is posted under the activity timeline, your team member will receive a notification under the notifications bell each time they are mentioned by you or other team members. When you click 'reply' on an @ notification it will automatically tag the sender so they get notified right away as well.
Opening up the notification, by clicking on it, will provide information about which 'app' the mention was created.
Jobs
Receive a notification when the job process you started is completed, whether it was successful or not. Thanks to this system notification enabled by default, you won't need to constantly review your records to see whether or not they have been updated.
Note: This notification will only be received by the team member who started the process, meaning he who performed the Bulk Edit or uploaded the Import CSV file.
