Overview
Within the Texts menu, you can view and organize all sent text messages. Create and manage text templates, and even import existing text messages into FreeAgent.
Note: sending and receiving SMS messages from within FreeAgent requires that you have a Twilio account and have paired it with FreeAgent.

Navigate to Texts
Go to Activities > Texts.
All Texts
This page provides you with a view of all sent SMS messages. There are a number of different methods you can use to organize your records.
1. Search
Search for specific messages by keyword.
2. Filter
You can do this by clicking on 'Filter' right next to the search bar. From here you filter your messages based on who created the text, the source app, or even the text status. You can also sort and group texts just as you can within any of your applications within FreeAgent.
3. Save
Save your filtered views for use at a later time or date.
Text Templates
Similar to Phone Scripts or Email Templates. Text Templates allow you to create and save set messages so that your team can send them from FreeAgent.
Add a Template
Click on 'Add Text Template' to get started.
Let's go through each section of the script creation screen.
1. Name
Create a name for your template
2. App for Merge Tags
Merge Tags are a powerful way to pull information from your applications for use in your text templates. Here's how they work. Here's how they work.
First Select the app you want to pull information from. In this example, we're going to use the Contacts app.
Once you select the app - Contacts, Accounts, Opportunities etc. the merge tags that will be available to you are specific to that application. You can add tags in the 'Message' field.
Merge Tags use something called "Dot Walking". It allows you to reference fields within the application you've chosen. Everything is contained between two curly brackets on each end.
- Enter two curly brackets {{
- Choose the field type from the drop-down list. Your choice is fields related to the user or the fields in the application you chose earlier.
- Enter a dot after your choice and you'll be presented with a list of fields to choose from.
- Close with two opposite-facing curly brackets.
- When you choose this script in the email panel you'll see the information stored in the fields you've referenced.
3. Message
This is the box where all of the template content is written.
4. Picture
Add an image to your template.
5. Share with Team
Select 'yes' if you would like everyone in your organization to have access to the template.
Import Texts
Using the same wizard for importing records into FreeAgent, you can also import SMS messages. For more detailed information on how to do this please see the following article:
